30 years’ history in short

Tehdasvalo’s story began in 1990, purely out of demand for alternative, competitive lighting solutions in the Finnish industrial lighting market. Our CEO Harri Koivumäki wanted to answer the challenge and founded the company together with two partners. The founders had very strong experience in lighting industry – Harri Koivumäki had been working for nearly 20 years among lighting production, luminaire design and sales before starting his own business.

Harri Koivumäki designed the Victor -lighting series to meet the needs of demanding industrial conditions. From the beginning, Victor luminaires were designed with emphasis on good energy efficiency, maintainability and good light management, as well as long life, choosing materials that allow decades of use even in the harsh industrial conditions.

Production started in Iittala and the first years were difficult due to heavy competition and years of recession. The company was moved to Imatra in 1998 and the business started to grow. Cooperation with lighting manufacturer Faeber was established as we started importing floodlights from Italy.

In 2000s we stabilized our position as a reliable lighting manufacturer. Luminaires were delivered to many large domestic projects. Product range was extended and area lighting installations were started. First steps of internationalization were taken, as we delivered luminaires to projects in Sweden and Uruguay. Success in large export projects showed to customers as well as inside the company, that despite our small size, we are capable to serve customers well in larger projects as well.

During the last decade, the operations and development have been accelerated by the rapid development of the LED technology. We had been using LED in our safety lighting solutions for years before LED came more common in the general industrial lighting. This helped to adapt and update the product range to latest technology. Our product development is continuous and focuses on adjusting the new technology to demanding conditions, always striving for resistant and reliable solutions.
